Inset basin. The top of the basin is protruding above the bench and the rest is under the counter. The effect is like the basin has sunk into the bench slightly.
Undercounter basin. There are no edges on the bench top. It’s mounted under the bench top with nothing showing but the inside of the basin. You can run your hand along the top of a wet bench and brush the water straight into the basin.
Semi recessed basin. This is where the front of the basin protrudes forward from the bench top. It’s like it’s hanging over the edge of the bench.
Wall hung basin. It’s mounted directly to the wall and usually the plumbing under the basin is exposed and treated as a feature piece.
Above counter basin. It sits on top of the bench and becomes a focal point in the space. With this type, it’s easy to update the bowl with a different colour and design as fashions change.
Each of these basin types look fabulous and serve a particular purpose.
